Croeso! Welcome to Ian & Janet Robinson's homepage at Ty'n Y Llidiart Farm.

We are located in Llandegla, North Wales, adjacent to the Clwydian Range, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.

We have a small farm with a small collection of rare breed chickens, our Feistyfowl, and a flock of Pedigree Lleyn sheep . Ian also runs a small cactus nursery selling cacti directly from the farm or online.

Ian has been a specialist grower of cacti and succulents since 1952. He is a National Show judge for the British Cactus and Succulent Society and is available to give lectures on various subjects. Click here for the main cactus nursery page and also sales lists for Echinopsis, Epiphytes, Tephrocactus and Opuntia relatives, Other Cacti, Mesembryanthemacae and other Succulents.

The Feistyfowl rare breed chicken collection began with Ian & Janet's daughter Jen Berry having the idea that a few rare breed hens would be a nice addition to the general farm flock ... we have a small number pure breeds and some of our own cross breeds. Click here for more information on  Black Leghorns,  Cream Legbars,   Marans,  Shetlands and Pekin Bantams and also Shetlands crossed with bantams . We have a cross between Cream Legbar and Maran which we call Marsbars .  They lay olive green eggs.  Click here if you are interested in buying hens or eggs.  we sometimes have surplus fertile eggs for hatching.
Due to high demand, we will not have any point of lay hens in 2019 until July .

The wind turbine was erected in December 2005. It is a 6kw Proven and will provide up to 12500 units per year at an average wind speed of 5.1m/s. Photographs of the construction and the turbine itself can be found here.

We get some electricity from 16 solar panels.  This together with the wind energy goes towards heating the farmhouse with a ground source heat pump which converts 1kw of energy into 4.2 kw of heat.  900m of pipe laid in the fields provide the low level heat which is then used to create hot water.
